This morning as I am sitting down to have my quiet time (and) to also prepare for my small group discussion on Ephesians, God showed me something really cool. I thought I would share :). We are, this week, in Ephesians 4:1-16, where Paul is transitioning from (in my honest opinion) one of the best descriptors of our high calling, position, and value in Christ into the practical "how do you apply this in your world?" section. This should be a cool section, because we as guys are into action even though I love the "look at who you really are" stuff :). So, I'm reading through this section and I get to verse 7, which says: "But to each one of usgrace has been given as Christ apportioned it..." And then describes our calling to be unified and to reflect Him through our gifts. Earlier in this letter, Paul uses the word "grace" in a very similar way: "Surely you have heard about the administration of God's grace that was given to me f...

The last two weeks for me have been quite a blur...  that's what happens when you are traveling like crazy and are juggling about 4 things simultaneously between work, career, social, travel, etc...  It's also meant that blogging time has come at a premium for me.  Since I had a (in my mind) a fairly interesting couple of weeks, I'd imagine that I'd log them. The Monday prior to Memorial Day...  This was, prior to last Thursday, the last day that I've spent in the ATL.  I had planned my travel around the Memorial Day holiday to fly to Houston from Dallas to see family and friends (and get good Tex-Mex, also at a premium in Atlanta).  Somehow because of some strange reason, I had to go to the Atlanta (aka - John's Creek) office of Teradata to work.  Work went by, as work days do... a few conference calls, time to get deliverables knocked out, etc. etc.  Finishing up the day, I completed the evening by finding a really cool friend to watch my cat while I was gone ...

I have had this verse (title, please) circling in my head on my way back from Toastmasters today... you know, the one about God giving us the words to say when we are asked to present our testimony.  While not on trial, I felt that He was doing that through me today and I've been meditating on that since I left the meeting. Today, I had my first official meeting role as the "ah counter" - meaning that I count all of the verbal filler words that people use in their speeches.  I tried to have some fun with that.  For anyone that hasn't been to a Toastmasters meeting before, one of the items on the meeting is "Table Topics" where three volunteers are taken to give a 1 to 2 minute impromptu speech about something that the "table topics master" provides.  I am really working to become a great speaker so I usually volunteer for these things early, but because I had the "ah counter" role today, I didn't immediately throw my hand up.  But, no...
