Things I really love

I'm stealing shamelessly from a friend's blog... I liked it so much that I had to use the idea:

50 things that I really love (not in any order and not an exhaustive list):

1.  Healthy food that makes you feel good
2.  Discovering a new, unique, and interesting place to go out
3.  Attending a baseball game a classic ballpark
4.  Repeat 3:  But with a team steeped in tradition (like the Cubs or Red Sox :) )
5.  Chicago-style pizza, in Chicago
6.  Freebirds burritos
7.  Tex-Mex, in Texas
8.  REAL country dancing (two-stepping)
9.  The first ski run on a clear day after 5" of snow drops on the mountain
10. Repeat 9, but do it after Fresh Tracks breakfast on top of Whistler
11.  A girl who is attractive and modest
12. Repeat 11, but add a quick wit (slightly sarcastic) to it. 
13. Repeat 11 & 12, but add a passionate love for Jesus.
14. Hanging out with someone like 11,12, and 13
15. Watching Jack Bauer kick some tail
16. Great Italian food
17. Hiking on a crisp day in the mountains
18. Hockey games
19. Night of Worship at Buckhead Church
20. Singing at Buckhead Church Upstreet
21. Having a "political" conversation without getting political.
22. Getting 40MPG and listening to people driving SUVs complain about the cost of gas
23. Spending time in a city where there's so much to do and I don't have to drive.
24.   Repeat 23, but let's refine that to NYC, Boston, and Chicago.
25.  Reading a good book on the beach
26.  Getting that time in the OUTDOOR hot tub after a great day snowskiing.
27.  Meals that are experiences... beyond food.
28. Taking a great girl out on a date
29. Repeat 28, but include lots of laughter
30. Repeat 28 and 29, but include facinating conversation
31. Repeat 28-30, but include a romantic spark
32. Repeat 28-30 (not 31), but include building a great friendship
33. Watching football with the guys
34.  Dumb guy movies (Dumb & Dumber, Tommy Boy, and such)
35.  Finding that song that you can't stop listening to
36.  Investing your life into a mentee, and watching them catch the fire.
37.  Being in TEXAS
38.  Texas A&M beating t.u.
39.  The Hula Hut and Motzarts
40.  Chicken fingers
41.  Buffalo wings and french fries
42.  Running outside on a crisp day
43.  Fall weather 
44.  Bill Cosby's stand up
45.  Trader Joes
46.  Risttee Church in Tartu, Estonia and all the peeps leading it.
47.  Salt and vinegar potato chips
48.  Diet Coke

Is it time to drop the "Jesus" of the Chosen?

  Back in 2020 (Yes, THAT 2020), with all of the negative that came out of that year (and we lived in Colorado and experienced much of it), one seemingly bright light that came into our lives was this crowdsource-funded streaming digital series about the life of Jesus that was starting to gain attention on social media.  It was (and still is) called "The Chosen."   I'm not sure if it was out of curiosity, boredom, or out of the hope that something good would come out of the year we were living in, but we started to watch the first season that streamed on YouTube.  This program, which is the brainchild of Dallas Jenkins (whose dad Jerry Jenkins was the author of the Left Behind series books), was a creative project aimed at expressing the stories of Jesus in the Bible (and we find that much was made up... more on that later) in a modern format mimicking a "bingeable" Netflix series.  The production value was excellent.  The Chosen, especially given the limited bu

After the Red Sea: A redeemed people that didn't trust (or love) their God (Exodus 16-17)

The newly freed Israelites, after having seen God's mighty works in Egypt in rescuing them from slavery and delivering them through the Red Sea... You would have thought that they would be full of worship, praise, and love for God who did this deliverance on their behalf. Well, they did, for a hot second (Exodus 15). Immediately after being delivered, they break out in song on the other side of the Red Sea and sing praises to God. But it's not soon after, that they start complaining. I mean, they complain (or "grumble") a lot. "And the whole congregation of the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness, and the people of Israel said to them, “Would that we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the meat pots and ate bread to the full, for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.” - Exodus 16:2-3 "Therefore the people quarreled with Moses and said, “Give us

The B(C)S Strikes Again

I'm laughing, again.  Somehow, some big conference elites somewhere are trying to sell college football fans that the BCS (Bowl Championship Series) is a flawless way to determine who should play for a national college football championship.  Every year, the "system" flirts with controversy, and manages to bring up some really good points over the years.   One of the classic arguments that they like to bring up is... "Every game counts" Hmmmmm .... what about Texas 45, Oklahoma 35?   In the BCS standings now, guess who's #2?   OU ... who's #3?  t.u.  ....Every game counts, eh?   Apparently , "what have you done for me lately" and a bunch of computers spitting stats count a lot more now than the results on the field.... too funny.   In a twist of fate, the Big XII South, arguably the best division in college football, has a three way tie for first place with three teams at 7-1 (11-1 overall) and all ranked in the top 7 in the BCS standings.
