Moral Victories for Notre Dame

Are you watching the "BCS Title Game" and nearly falling asleep now?  Or perhaps you are finding snarky comments on Facebook to be more entertaining than watching the game.

Or perhaps you may be a Notre Dame fan writhing in pain watching this dismantling of a storied football program of years gone by.  You may be discouraged; dismayed; or flat out disgusted.  But have hope, there are such things as moral victories and silver linings!!!  And there are plenty to be had.  I'll give you my top ten... but I'm sure there are more.  Blogosphere... please add more, but here are mine.

  1. You have proven that if you play a steady diet of weak Big Ten and Pac 12 schools, you too can play in the BCS Title game.  I mean, if you played in the SEC, you'd be playing in the Independence Bowl this year... how much fun is that?
  2. You don't have to worry about Harvey Updike doing anything bad to Touchdown Jesus.
  3. You're the only team to get blown out in your bowl game to get a month's worth of media hype.
  4. You've entertained millions of Facebook and Twitter followers with your performance tonight.
  5. You've ensured that Ohio State fans will talk all season about what "could've been" had they not violated NCAA rules.  They don't have to go get beat by an SEC team on National TV this year.
  6. You have done millions of football fans a favor by letting us go to bed early.
  7. You finally got a chance to play an SEC team this year.
  8. You gave ESPN a chance to show some Johnny Football highlights.  We all like that!
  9. You got to party in Miami... um, maybe you should've waited till after the game, though.
  10. You just improved the self esteem of Michigan, Western Kentucky, Florida Atlantic, Ole Miss, Mizzou, LSU, and Georgia.  Perhaps some of your players have a great future in counseling.
