I just wanted to take a quick time out to announce to the blogosphere that I LOVE dill pickles.  They're just awesome.

And I had a great bunch for lunch.

That is all.

I'll come up with something more profound later.

I've had this on the brain for a while... I need a mental candy break though. The Devil and the Cross (Luke 22)

This year, the focus of my morning devotional readings have been on diving through the Gospels.  After my previous year of focusing on the Torah/Pentateuch (Genesis - Deuteronomy, but continuing on into the histories), this year has been rich to see afresh Jesus Christ, the God-Man that all of history points to, as the fulfillment of the Law and the final answer to the big questions of life, which I'm excited to see being asked in curious ways within our culture (even if some of the answers they are arriving at aren't on target) Who is God?   How can I know and be in harmony with Him?  These, if you think about it, are questions that we are all asking in one way, shape, or another... even if we don't use that language.  We know in our hearts that there is a divine being that is over the universe that created everything, we are not in harmony with Him, and yet our hearts deep desire and yearning is to be in harmony with Him, yet we don't know how... and so we gro...

An interesting observation

I was watching Bill O'Reilly earlier today as a means to catch up on what's being talked about with less than 2 weeks to go till the election.  Among other things (Simon's salary news from American Idol, Michael Moore being a pinhead, etc.), he had Mike Huckabee on the show and was talking about Joe the Plumber and this whole "spread the wealth around" thing... and the fact that Barak Obama still leads John McCain by at least 4 points in most of the polling that's going out.   Didn't know this, but apparently Huck now has a show of his own and was the first to break the whole Joe the Plumber thing... will have to check on that.  So, O'Reilly and Huckabee are talking on the show, and Huck makes a comment that if John McCain wins this election, he will have Joe the Plumber to thank.  I think 96% of everyone that follows politics would agree with that statement, because it brought Obama's wealth redistribution objectives to light and is making America...
